The staff that work here are great, always smiling and make good conversation with you, are very helpfull with any questions, directions, problems you may have. The rooms are ample and comfortable, clean, and house staff cater to any requests. Booked in for two nights and ended up staying a week. Would reccomend to any traveler or person looking for a bed for a night, or a week for that matter.

  • Older travelers

The staff were very friendly. The room was agood size, well equipped, modern and very clean. The breakfast was very good indeed. The town of Boston is amazing with it incredible church (biggest parish church in Britain with a 272 ft tower but better still the astonishing library which has been in the same room since the 1600s with books dating back to the 12th Century.

I was arriving late and I phoned to let the hotel know - the staff went to the trouble of visitng a local restaurant to let them know that I would like to eat there as they knew I would arrive marginally later than the restaurant's closing time. The 2 female staff are very friendly, couteous and extremely helpful in ensuring that my stay was comfortable

Small frinendly, clean hotel in the middle of boston

  • Couple

Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious.

  • Single

Friendly and efficient staff, good location, comfortable, free wi-fi.

  • Older travelers

Staff very helpful. Good on site parking and a nice sized room. Close to town centre, but not noisey.

  • Group of friends

It was central to what we wanted. Breakfast was good., And served by a very efficient lady. When she was on reception she was welcoming -.,

It was noticable that only 2 staff were on duty all day., Or so it appeared. One of the ladies it seemed had to do reception, serve at all meals and do the bar. This in my opinion was not the thing and we have travelled to lots of areas and never come across this before. (Perhaps she had a twin or a triplet???), We have stayed here on 3 previous occasions and in my opinion, it has gone "downhill". We booked here as we were sure that there was a lift and, as I am registered as disabled, thought it the best place to stay. We will rethink if ever we want to come to Boston again - perhaps consult the Concise Blue Badge Book.

  • Family with children

Excellent service, friendly and extremely accommodating staff -- they opened the restaurant 45 minutes early to feed our very hungry children! The food was good and reasonably priced. The location was ideal for an evening stroll into Boston, a lovely old town with winding cobbled streets. Fast free wifi in the rooms was a bonus.

There wasn't anything we didn't like. Would gladly stay there again.

The location in the town centre.

Despite booking an 'executive' single I was unable to have a shower in the morning. When set to warm / hot the shower was so ineffective the water barely trickled out, and I had to give up trying. And there was no bath to use as an alternative. The tv was unable to receive a signal for bbc1 or bbc2. Despite ringing the bell several times at reception when checking out, no one appeared so I left the key and departed. I usually stay in guest houses or budget hotels, and the New England was booked as a 'treat', but this was poor value for money and an experience I won't repeat.

  • Older travelers

Good location for access to Boston and surrounding areas. One of the better of the old traditional Boston hotels.

Drinks prices at the bar were excessive compared with other local restaurats and bars. Pity because bar area was short of one thing, people, who were obviously doing their drinking elsewhere.

  • Older travelers

Useful situation with parking in centre of town. Comfortable beds. Good towels. Clean. Very pleasant, helpful staff.

Discounted room rate. Nice old hotel, had a good reputation from when I lived in Boston many years ago. Ok breakfast

There are too few staff on duty to run the hotel. The New England used to have a good reputation for being one of the best Hotels in the area. It is still clean & friendly but is obviously struggling I would have been very disappointed if I havd paid full room rate.

  • Older travelers

Clean room, comfortable bed, excellent breakfast.

All was well with our stay until the morning when the hot water system packed up and the hot taps were bone dry. I tried phoning reception several times but got no answer, so I tried the hotel number on my mobile which was answered immediately. The excuse for ignoring the internal phone was, "I'm the only staff member on duty this morning!" The receptionist tried calling the manager who lives in the hotel, but he didn't answer his phone and so she said there was nothing she could do about the hot water not working. Eventually she said it was something that had happened before and she had to turn a valve outside to fix it, which she did with the result that we had hot water again for a few minutes before it ran cold and stayed cold. To her credit she agreed to send breakfast to our room, but the general customer service at the hotel was very poor. She eventually managed to get hold of the manager who didn't want to speak to us, but he did agree a discount. For a hotel that advertises a room rate approaching £100 it is extremely poor quality, and I would not advise staying there until the way the hotel is managed has been improved.

  • Group of friends

The family room we stayed in was spacious and equipped with everything we needed.

The corridors of the hotel were lighted by small spotlights that did nothing for the interior and at times were not bright enough. Decor and furniture a little outdated but we wasn't there for this anyway!!
